  • Date lodged: Thursday, 01 December 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02884

That the Parliament congratulates everyone at Disabilities Fife on its Young Carers project receiving a Young Start grant of £49,940; notes that the Young Start programme is run by the National Lottery and supports projects that create opportunities for children and young people to help realise their potential; understands that the Young Carers project will provide respite and support to children and young people in Kirkcaldy who have caring responsibilities in their home; recognises what it sees as the invaluable help and support that the group's outings and activities will offer by uniting the young people with peers with whom they can discuss their roles as carers and their personal circumstances; believes that this will help lead to a reduction in isolation and loneliness and increase the young people's knowledge and skills; commends the work of Disabilities Fife, and wishes it all the best for the future.
