Congratulating the Macrobert Arts Centre

  • Submitted by: Dean Lockhart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 01 December 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02883

That the Parliament congratulates the Macrobert Arts Centre on being awarded a grant of £48,990 by the Big Lottery Fund; understands that it will use these funds to further develop and enhance its New Creative Voices project, which will deliver a series of workshops outwith school curriculum hours; notes that, thanks to this two-year grant, the centre will establish workshops lasting 20 weeks, which will be delivered in areas of social and economic deprivation and with groups that represent disadvantaged young people who may not ordinarily expect to access arts provision; understands that this scheme will benefit around 240 young people in the Stirling and Clackmannanshire region, and hopes that these schemes can be replicated around Scotland to deliver the arts into the most deprived areas.
