Woodside School Shortlisted by UK Literary Association

That the Parliament congratulates Woodside School on being the first school in Scotland to be shortlisted for the UK Literary Association (UKLA) School of the Year Award; understands that the Aberdeen primary school has made the shortlist Roll of Honour of only four schools for the 2017 award, which will be announced in July at the UKLA International Conference at the University of Strathclyde; notes that Woodside School has been recognised by UKLA for its innovative approach to literacy, including projects such as a Reading Olympics, monthly book swaps, author visits and the recent launch of a series of picture books created by P5 pupils for younger children at the school as part of Book Week Scotland; commends the work by staff and pupils to secure this prestigious nomination, and wishes everyone at Woodside School all the best for the awards ceremony next year.
