  • Submitted by: Annie Wells, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 01 December 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02873

That the Parliament congratulates Alzheimer Scotland in Glasgow on receiving funding from the Young Start programme totalling £45,820; understands that Alzheimer Scotland will use this one-year grant to continue to deliver a befriending project in Glasgow and West Lothian and will involve young volunteers attending care homes outside of school hours to offer support and companionship to older people with dementia; notes that Young Start is a grants programme run by the Big Lottery Fund to distribute money from dormant accounts, and is eager to follow the progress of Alzheimer Scotland as it seeks to comfort those experiencing dementia.
