Asda and the Prince’s Trust Partnership in Glenrothes

  • Submitted by: Jenny Gilruth, Mid Fife and Glenrothes, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 30 November 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02867

That the Parliament congratulates the young people who have recently completed the Get into Retail youth employment initiative, run by the Prince’s Trust and based in Asda’s Glenrothes store; understands that the four-week training programme offered a group of unemployed young people the chance to gain valuable work experience, training and mentoring; notes that nearly all of those who took part in the programme have now been offered a permanent contract with Asda; commends all those involved on their achievements, and considers that programmes, such as Get into Retail, are of great value in terms of improving the skills and confidence of young people and tackling youth unemployment.
