Palestinian and Israeli Firefighters Working Together
- Submitted by: Sandra White, Glasgow Kelvin, Scottish National Party.
- Date lodged: Tuesday, 29 November 2016
- Motion reference: S5M-02833
That the Parliament welcomes the concerted efforts and co-operation shown by Palestinian and Israeli firefighters who are fighting the worst fires in Israel since the Carmel fires in 2010; understands that, while Israeli firefighters have access to a full complement of kit and equipment to carry out their firefighting duties, their Palestinian counterparts do not have equal access; condemns the actions of the Israeli authorities that it understands have embargoed a substantial donation from the Fire Brigades Union, which is currently being kept in Haifa, and strongly urges the Israeli authorities to release the donation as soon as possible to ensure that Palestinian firefighters are equipped to carry out their duties.
