  • Date lodged: Thursday, 24 November 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02728

That the Parliament welcomes the University of Aberdeen’s donation of hundreds of unwanted computers to charities and projects around the world; recognises that the university, through the Scottish charity, Reusing IT, has donated 350 computers to community schools, orphanages and primary health projects in Ghana, Sierra Leone and Kenya; understands that additional computers have been donated by the university to Syrian refugee families settling in Aberdeen as part of a wider Aberdeen City Council initiative, and that PCs have also been donated to the local charity, The Foyer, to help its work supporting independent living; commends the decision by the University of Aberdeen to find new homes for its IT equipment, and hopes that all those who have received computers through the scheme will benefit from the donations.
