Ballater Fire Crew Wins Pride of Aberdeen Award

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 17 November 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02569

That the Parliament congratulates the Ballater fire crew on receiving the Pride of Aberdeen Award; notes that, after Ballater was badly flooded in the New Year, fire crews went above and beyond the call of duty to help the local communities; further notes that, even as their own homes and fire stations were being flooded, the crew were out around the clock saving over 200 people that had been caught in the floods during Storm Frank; considers that, without the fire crew, lives would have been lost, and expresses its tremendous gratitude for the crew's service to the public.
