  • Submitted by: Douglas Ross, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 17 November 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-02563

That the Parliament congratulates the award-winners at the 2nd Annual Moray Chamber of Commerce Awards lunch, which was held at the Stotfield Hotel in Lossiemouth on 16 November 2016; understands that the judges had great difficulty in selecting the finalists from those nominated; notes that the award-winners were I Like Birds (Most Promising Enterprise), AES Solar Ltd (SME of the Year), WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre (Moray Speyside Tourism Business Award) and Findhorn Bay Arts (Community Tourism Award); considers that the awards demonstrate the diversity of commerce and industry in Moray, with each winner being a great ambassador for the area, be it developing new technologies or products, or putting Moray very firmly on the tourism map and attracting visitors from near and far; notes that, in 2015, over 700,000 people visited Moray, bringing around £106 million to the local economy, and wishes all those involved continued success in the future, in particular the Moray Chamber of Commerce, which does an excellent job working with local companies and individuals to promote business interests in the community.
