That the Parliament recognises the efforts of the staff and volunteers of East Ayrshire Churches Homelessness Action (EACHa) in their work supporting people throughout East Ayrshire dealing with the effects of homelessness and helping them towards a better future; understands that EACHa was formed in 2005, has two part- time staff and a team of around 60 volunteers; notes that, among the initiatives run by EACHa, is the Community Friends befriending project, which offers support to those experiencing homelessness and those at risk of homelessness through drop-in events; further understands that EACHa works with a number of professional partners at these drop-in events to offer help including providing hygiene packs, housing advice, nursing support, oral health check-ups, opticians check-ups and advice on how to stop smoking; understands that these homelessness nurses are jointly funded by the NHS and the local authority; commends the volunteers for their incredible dedication, with some contributing as many as 40 hours per week; congratulates EACHa for making such a difference in the lives of their service users, and wishes it continued success.
