New Portobello High School

That the Parliament welcomes the opening of the new Portobello High School for staff and pupils on 27 October 2016; recognises the importance of the new school building and the impact that it will have in continuing to deliver a 21st century class education to all pupils in a great learning environment where they can flourish; considers that the new sports facilities will enable pupils to enjoy the proper amount of physical education hours and be healthier and more active; notes the value of the new school and its importance to the local community; believes that the investment in technology and interactive learning will ensure that the pupils gain the vital skills that they need to be ready for the jobs of the future; acknowledges that it will enable teachers to expand their ability to provide a full and comprehensive educational experience, and further acknowledges the outstanding work of local campaigners over the last decade to ensure that the new Portobello High School was built on the best site that will serve the whole community for generations to come.
