Scarf Anniversary

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 20 September 2016
  • Motion reference: S5M-01583

That the Parliament welcomes the 30th anniversary of one of the most successful north east social enterprises, Scarf, and the launch of its new branding; notes that this new branding was developed alongside an ambitious growth plan, which includes the launch of a new commercial switching service, Scarf Commercial Energy; believes that Scarf’s original aim was to help alleviate fuel poverty, an ambition that remains at its core; considers that, over the years, the organisation has grown to become a leading voice in the fuel poverty conversation within Scotland and, more recently, has built a reputation as a major frontline energy advice service provider, operating the Home Energy Scotland advice centre in the north east, and notes that Scarf also operates the Home Energy Advice Team in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Angus and Perth and Kinross
