From 6 to 13 October 2024, as a co-convenor of the Cross-Party Group on Taiwan, I visited Taiwan as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of China (Taiwan). The trip was arranged by the Taipei Representative Office (Edinburgh) in the UK, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) (of 1 Melville Street, Edinburgh, EH3 7PE). The Tapei Representative Office (Edinburgh) offers quasi-consular assistance to Taiwanese nationals in Scotland and represents the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the United Kingdom through a manner of cultural, academic, and economic activities. On my visit to Taiwan, I met a number of Government departments, as well as trade, faith-based and cultural organisations. The visit was made up of a cross-party delegation all of whom were, at the time of the trip, members of the Cross Party Group on Taiwan. The total cost of the flights, hotels and ancillary expenses was £8,800. These costs were met entirely by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) as detailed above. From 6 to 7 March 2023 I attended and spoke at a side event at the 67th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women in New York. I was invited to speak as Convener of the Cross Party Group on Human Trafficking and co-convenor of the Cross Party Group on Commercial Sexual Exploitation. The cost of the trip was £535.25 for accommodation and overnight costs and 2,559.57 Euros for flights, which is equivalent to approximately £2,256.68. All costs were met by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (of Wallnerstrasse 6, 1010 Vienna, Austria), an intergovernmental regional security organisation with observer status at the United Nations.
