  • Submitted by: Kenneth Gibson, Cunninghame North, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 15 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12824

That the Parliament congratulates Isle of Cumbrae Distillers on being selected as the gin distillery of the year at the Corporate LiveWire Global Awards 2023-24; understands that the awards celebrate the success of companies that stand out for being results-driven and service-focused, and that winners were chosen for innovation, ethical practice and industry recognition, as well as service excellence; is aware that the business, which is run by Bronwyn Jenkins-Deas, Juli Dempsey, Lynda Gill, Philippa Dalton and Jenine Ward, launched in 2019 and is one of Scotland’s only women-owned distilleries; acknowledges that, in the past five years, Isle of Cumbrae Distillers has exceeded its goals with five gins and multiple awards, creating employment for islanders, and bringing new tourists to Millport; notes that the team has recently identified the next generation of Isle of Cumbrae Distillers who will take the business to the next level, with Caroline Christie and Struan Fraser from Kilwinning taking on the full management of the distillery from April 2024 and transitioning to full ownership over the next two to three years, with the current team working with Caroline and Struan to ensure a smooth transition, and wishes everyone involved with Isle of Cumbrae Distillers all the best in their future endeavours.
