Dollar Community Development Trust Launches Business Friends Scheme

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 28 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12698

That the Parliament is enthused that businesses, which it believes are playing a key role in supporting a Clackmannanshire community development trust, are being recognised in a recently-launched scheme; understands that Dollar Community Development Trust (CDT) launched its Business Friends scheme on 22 March 2024 to recognise those who have been supporting the ongoing work to provide activities and more to families in the area; notes that, during a small event in the locality, Dollar Co-op and Harviestoun Estate became the first two businesses to be recognised through the scheme; further notes that, since 2019, Dollar Co-op has raised more than £9,000 for Dollar CDT through its Local Community Fund and other fundraising activities of the staff; notes that Harviestoun Estate has actively supported the trust since its inception in 2017, providing operatives and machinery when needed, whether it was for erecting the marquee or preparing areas for planting, setting land aside for a community garden or helping with the maintenance of the Hive; commends everyone involved, and acknowledges that the building was successfully taken into community ownership in early 2022 using the community asset transfer process and a grant from the Scottish Land Fund.
