  • Submitted by: Sarah Boyack, Lothian, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 20 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12578

That the Parliament congratulates National Museums Scotland and Networking Key Services (NKS) on South Asian Stories, which is a project to create new interpretations for objects in the museum’s collection, including unveiling South Asian cultures and lifestyles, particularly in the context of South Asian connections within the framework of colonial history; understands that this project aims to increase representation from, and supports the inclusion of local South Asian audiences; recognises what it sees as the participatory practices that are employed by the organisations as a way of amplifying unique perspectives on the collection, and applauds the introduction on 15 March 2024 of a new trail through the museum, which features objects selected by the participants and shares the memories and knowledge connected to them with visitors.
