Anna Wells Winter Munro Round

  • Submitted by: Liz Smith, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 15 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12514

That the Parliament sends its congratulations to Anna Wells on her completion of Scotland’s 282 Munros in a single winter season; understands that Anna has become the first woman to complete the winter Munro round, and only the fourth person overall, while also equalling the previous 83-day record set by Martin Moran; commends Anna for what it sees as an extraordinary demonstration of physical and mental strength and resilience to complete all of Scotland’s mountains over 3,000 feet in the most challenging weather conditions of the year, during the astronomical winter between the 21 December 2023 and 20 March 2024, and notes that the challenge was completed with seven days to spare on 13 March, upon reaching the summit of her final Munro, Cairn Gorm.
