Dreadnought Pub Wins Community Pub Hero Scotland Award at PubAid’s Community Pub Hero Awards

  • Submitted by: Ben Macpherson, Edinburgh Northern and Leith, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 11 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12446

That the Parliament congratulates the owners of Dreadnought pub in the Edinburgh Northern and Leith constituency, Róisín Thérèse and Toby Saltonstall, on recently winning the Community Pub Hero Scotland award at PubAid’s Community Pub Hero Awards; understands that they won this award for their work on the Save the Pride Bridge campaign, which brought about action to protect a local landmark from demolition; recognises that the Save the Pride Bridge campaign began in 2022, and is comprised of a diverse range of local, grassroots volunteers and activists, who took the initiative to create the community art project to help enhance and celebrate the much-loved local bridge and public space by painting it in the colours of both the Pride and Trans Pride flags; considers that the bridge has become an Edinburgh LGBTQ landmark, and commends what it sees as the commitment and determination of the Dreadnought owners, as well as all of the Save the Pride Bridge campaigners, who, it believes, are working purposely and tenaciously to preserve and enhance the bridge.
