  • Submitted by: Gordon MacDonald, Edinburgh Pentlands, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 01 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12364

That the Parliament welcomes the adoption of Wester Hailes Station as part of ScotRail’s Adopt a Station scheme; understands that Wester Hailes Community Trust has been taking the initiative forward, recruiting community volunteers to enrol in the scheme for the station; notes that the scheme involves activities such as building station gardens, installing information boards and other creative ideas to improve the look and feel of train stations; wishes Wester Hailes Community Trust well in its work to draw up planting plans and secure funding for the project; acknowledges what it considers to be the positive impact of the ScotRail Adopt a Station scheme in improving the physical environment of stations across the country; celebrates that more than 200 ScotRail stations and over 1,000 volunteers are, it understands, now part of the Adopt a Station volunteering programme, and encourages other groups across Scotland, such as charities, schools and business, to join the scheme and adopt their local station.
