East Renfrewshire Good Causes Achieves Funding Milestone

That the Parliament congratulates the charity, East Renfrewshire Good Causes, on reaching a major funding milestone; understands that the founder of the charity, Russell MacMillan, initially aimed to raise £100,000 to support people in need, but that East Renfrewshire Good Causes has now provided £2 million in donations to individuals and groups in the period since the organisation was established in August 2007; acknowledges that East Renfrewshire Good Causes accepts referrals from a range of front-line professionals, including healthcare staff, social workers and teachers, and that the charity has supported approximately 7,000 people in total; recognises that the charity initially only operated in East Renfrewshire but is now able to offer assistance to people living across Scotland, and commends Mr MacMillan and his team for the outstanding support that the charity has made available to people in need, and for achieving the £2 million milestone.
