Recognising Scottish Children’s Health Week and Awards 2023

  • Submitted by: Ben Macpherson, Edinburgh Northern and Leith, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 04 October 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10742

That the Parliament acknowledges Scottish Children’s Health Week, which took place from 4 to 10 September 2023; understands that Scottish Children’s Health Week was launched in 2020 and was developed to support article 24 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which states that "Healthcare for children and young people should be as good as possible", and goes further by saying that "children and young people have the right to be both physically and mentally fulfilled"; understands that the vision of Children’s Health Scotland is for "every child to realise their right to the best possible health", which works alongside the UNCRC and the European Association for Children in Hospital (EACH) Charter; congratulates all the children, young people, and those who love and care for them, who took part in Scottish Children’s Health Week 2023; recognises what it sees as the extraordinary work done by all those across Scotland who advocate for the health rights of all children, as well as the young volunteers who work with Children’s Health Scotland; congratulates all those who were awarded a Scottish Children’s Health Award, and thanks all of the young people who have input to and shaped the #MyHealthMyRights campaign that was launched during this year's Scottish Children’s Health Week.
