The Damages (Scotland) Bill is a Member's Bill which was introduced in the Scottish Parliament on 1 June 2010 by Bill Butler MSP. Its purpose is to implement the recommendations of the Scottish Law Commission in its report entitled Damages for Wrongful Death (Scottish Law Commission 2008). Stage 3 proceedings on the Bill are scheduled for 3 March 2011. This briefing considers some of the key issues that were raised in evidence to the Justice Committee at Stage 1 and how these issues were addressed during the Stage 2 proceedings associated with the Bill.
