Fire Safety Adviser

Role: Fire Safety Adviser 
Salary: £20,542 to £25,586 (£34,546 to £43,031 FTE) 
Working Pattern: 22 hours/3 days per week
Location: Holyrood, Edinburgh

Working within the Facilities Management (FM) Office in our iconic building, we require a part-time Fire Safety Advisor to ensure we provide a safe and secure environment for MSPs and their staff, parliamentary staff, and the public.

Providing a professional fire safety advisory service to the Parliament, you will be responsible for carrying out statutory Fire Risk Assessments and reviewing fire evacuation, fire alarm tactical management and fire incident review procedures.  In addition, you will have responsibility for delivering fire safety training, ensuring this is delivered to a high standard.

You will be an experienced and qualified fire safety professional with a graduate membership of The Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE), or equivalent.  You will have successfully attended “long fire prevention course/related modules” at the Fire Service College or similar and will be experienced in Fire Risk Assessments.  You will possess a level of Health & Safety experience commensurate with the role, ideally qualified in general health & safety management (NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health).

With excellent organisational skills, you will have the ability to manage fire safety projects and fire safety related contracts.  You will have excellent training skills with the ability to develop, design and deliver relevant training for all levels within the organisation.  With a full understanding of current fire safety legislation, you will have the ability to promote the values of good fire safety awareness and culture.
