Working for an MSP

Working for an MSP

MSPs are employers in their own right. They employ small teams of staff to support them in carrying out their parliamentary duties. Typical roles include:

  • administration/management
  • research
  • communications
  • casework

Jobs can be based in Holyrood or in local constituency or regional offices across Scotland. More information about working for an MSP can be found in individual job adverts.

Resources and guidance for existing MSP staff can be found on the intranet.

The Scottish Parliament will collect and use personal information in connection with your employment. See privacy notices explaining how your information is used.

You can also find guidance on the Code of Conduct. This sets out the principles and standards of conduct for MSPs in relation to their Parliamentary duties.

What it's like working for an MSP

MSP staff help Members of Scottish Parliament in their role. They give support in a very busy, fast paced environment, whether in their constituency office or at Holyrood.
