PE01784: Review of the Sheriff Court Fees Order 2018

Justice

Petitioner: Gordon Edwards

Status:
Lodged

Date Lodged: 05 February 2020

Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to conduct a review of the Sheriff Court Fees Order 2018 to make self-litigation more accessible to disabled people.

Petition History:

• Have you ever wanted to lodge an application to self-litigate but been unable to afford the court fees set out by the Scottish Government?

• Do you feel that self-litigation is a constitutional right?

• Do the current rules for fee exemption mean that some groups find it more difficult to self-litigate than others?

I support ending the exclusion of Disabled people in the Justice System.

As a lawyer, I support a full review of how the rules of court and the table of fees affect access to justice.
