Calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to take the necessary action and make representations to the appropriate bodies to stop the overnight running of freight trains on the Stirling-Alloa-Kincardine railway line.

29 November 2011: The Committee agreed to close the petition under Rule 15.7 on the grounds that responses from the relevant bodies have indicated that stopping to the overnight running of freight trains on the Stirling – Alloa – Kincardine rail line is not a possibility; Scottish Coal and DB Schenker are private companies and the Parliament is unable to insist they take any specific action and Network Rail has confirmed again that it is not permitted to prevent operators using the railway network if paths are available. Link to Official Report 29 November 2011
