We offer several visiting options for groups of 10 or more visitors.
You do not need to make a booking to visit The Scottish Parliament building. It is free to enter and usually open from Monday to Saturday. Use one of our maps to explore the building, including the Debating Chamber, exhibitions, artworks, café and shop.
Please note that access to the Debating Chamber is subject to parliamentary business and events. You require a ticket to enter the Debating Chamber during parliamentary business. These tickets are free and groups can book up to 15 tickets in advance.
If you prefer to visit the Debating Chamber on a day when no parliamentary business is taking place then Monday, Friday and Saturday are normally the days when this is possible or Monday to Saturday when the parliament is in recess. If you would like further assistance to plan your self-guided visit please get in touch at [email protected] or freephone 0800 092 7600.
Observe Parliamentary Business
Groups can book up to 15 tickets in advance to observe parliamentary business either in the Debating Chamber or in a Committee. Only one group slot is available per Committee and per timeslot of parliamentary business in the Debating Chamber. Parliamentary business is normally scheduled on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. When the parliament is in recess there will be no parliamentary business scheduled. If you would like to book tickets please get in touch at [email protected] or freephone 0800 092 7600.
A member of our Visitor Services Team can give an introductory talk to your group on the history and work of the Parliament and the design of the building. The talk will take place in the Public Gallery of the Debating Chamber (or another location if this is unavailable) and last approximately 15 minutes. After the talk the group can use one of our maps to explore the building, including exhibitions, artworks, café and shop.
We can accommodate groups of up to 60 on the talks. These talks usually operate at 10.45 and 14.45 on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays. When the parliament is in recess they will operate Monday to Saturday. It is essential to make an advanced booking for Group Talks. If you would like to book one please email us at [email protected] or freephone 0800 092 7600.
Guided tours of the building are very popular and advanced booking is essential. Our guides provide information on the history and work of the Scottish Parliament as well as information about the architecture of the award-winning building. We can accommodate groups of up to 20 on a guided tour. For groups larger than 20 it will be necessary to split the group across different tour times. For groups who prefer to stay together we recommend the Group Talk (see above). The tours operate on Monday, Friday and Saturday. When the parliament is in recess the tours will usually operate Monday to Saturday. If you would like to make a booking please email us at [email protected] or freephone 0800 092 7600
