On average, men who live in Scotland’s most affluent areas live around 11 years longer than those who live in the most deprived areas, and the corresponding difference for women is around 7.5 years.
The current position means that my constituents’ lives are disrupted on a regular basis—as the minister said, such antisocial behaviour is a weekly occurrence for people who have the misfortune to live anywhere near one of these party flats.The current system does not enable effective action to be taken.
Our immediate monetary situation has improved, but we are still living hand to mouth financially, and that looks set to continue for the foreseeable future.
We would prefer there to be a campaign that got people to understand why these things matter and why, if you do this stupid vandalising thing, it can have very serious consequences that people have to live with for the rest of their lives.
All of us now have many fewer contacts than we would have if we were living our lives normally. Therefore, there will be many stages between those two places that will determine the capacity that we will need to have.
