Simply put, the main benefit of a faster diagnosis is that treatment, care and support can be provided to folk at the earliest opportunity, which could lead to their living better lives after their diagnosis.
The risk is that, if you make assisted dying available, people would not live to experience that—they would not live to try a new treatment, or they would live longer than might be expected.
This has been a shameful saga that has involved endless broken promises, deadlines missed, communities lied to, lives ruined and, of course, lives lost.
