The opinion on EU-UK youth engagement, issued by the EESC and adopted on 3 April 2024, stated—

Following the EESC opinion the European Commission published a recommendation on 18 April 2024 that EU Member States agree to open negotiations with the UK Government for an agreement on youth mobility between the EU and the UK.Register of Commission Documents - COM(2024)169
