There is no consistent approach from HSCPs to supporting people who choose to manage their budget under SDS Option 1. Some may fund this support directly via a person’s budget or by commissioning services, however, SiRD fills gaps where this is not the case and enhances capacity where there is some local funding, to enable specialist support for people and carers who may have capacity issues.
