After all, it should be perfectly possible to publish such information in a way that would maintain the secrecy of the ballot by not permitting individual voters to be identified but which would let people in the academic community and political parties know how votes were cast and what transfers were made.That has already been done for STV elections in Ireland, where the full ballot data are freely available on the returning officer's website...
