Supported by: Annie Wells*, Alexander Stewart*, Miles Briggs*, Brian Whittle*, Tess White*, Pam Gosal*, Edward Mountain*, Jackson Carlaw*, Jeremy Balfour*, Russell Findlay*, Douglas Ross*, Tim Eagle*, Jamie Greene*, Bill Kidd*, Craig Hoy*, Maggie Chapman*, Paul Sweeney* *S6M-13766 Annie Wells: Glasgow Schools Win Gold Sports Award —That the Parliament congratulates St Paul's High School, in Pollok, and Smithycroft Secondary School, in Riddrie, on receiving Gold School Sports Awards, funded by the National Lottery; understands that the School Sport Award is a national initiative designed to encourage schools to put young people at the heart of decision making, planning and implementation of extra-curricular school sport; believes that it encourages schools to self-reflect and continuously improve, recognise and celebrate successful school sport; understands that the award also encourages sporting links between schools and the communities around them, providing opportunities for young people to progress; notes that the Gold School Sport Award is in recognition of the schools' achievements in putting sport at the heart of their planning, practice and ethos, and understands that it highlights that the schools have shown excellent practice across the core areas of the award and demonstrated an ongoing commitment to increase young people’s opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership and provide clear pathways to life-long participation in sport.
