Inquiry into the election of Committee Conveners



To review the current procedures for choosing committee conveners, consider the potential benefits of conveners being elected by the whole Parliament and identify any changes to the Parliament’s procedures that would be needed to allow convener elections.


The Committee published its report on 25 June 2015.

The Committee issued a call for views on 1 December 2014. The deadline for submissions was 7 February 2015.

The Committee took oral evidence at its meetings on 26 March, 23 April and 21 May 2015.

On 31 October 2014 the Presiding Officer wrote to the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee asking the Committee to consider the issue of Elected Committee Conveners.
