European Structural and Investment funds

At its meetings on 3 October and 14 November 2013, the Committee considered evidence on the new approaches to the European Structural Funds, the Social Funds and the Cohesion Fund for the new programming period 2014-2020.

The Committee heard from European Commission officials via video conference on 3 October (Official Report pp: 1383-1400), and from a range of Scottish stakeholders in a round table format on 14 November (Official Report pp: 1484-1512).

Previous inquiry

The Committee held an inquiry in 2011-12 on the funds and considered the ‘lessons learned’ from the 2007-13 programmes with a view to improving Scotland’s performance for the 2014-20 programmes. Following the inquiry report, the Committee has considered regular six monthly updates from the Scottish Government.

The Committee wrote to the Scottish Government on 6 December 2013 with its recommendations.
