Social Prescribing of Physical Activity and Sport - Call for views

The Committee are seeking views on social prescribing's ability to tackle physical and mental wellbeing issues across Scotland.

The call for written views is running from Friday 12 July to Friday 30 August 2019 and the Committee are keen to hear responses to the following questions:

1. To what extent does social prescribing for physcial activity and sport increase sustained participation in physical activity and sport for health and wellbeing?

2. Who should decide whether a social prescription for physcial activity is the most appropriate intervention, based on what criteria? (e.g. GP, other health professional, direct referral from Community Link Worker or self-referral)

3. What are the barriers to effective social prescribing to sport and physcial activity and how are they being overcome?

4. How should social prescribing for physcial activity and sport initiatives be monitored and evaluated?
