A Bill for an Act of the Scottish Parliament to provide for female genital mutilation protection orders and for guidance in relation to such orders and in relation to the prevention of female genital mutilation generally; and for connected purposes.
Current Status of the Bill
This Scottish Government Bill was introduced by the Cabinet Secretary for Social Security and Older People, Shirley-Anne Somerville MSP, on 29 May 2019.
Stage 1
The Equalities and Human Rights Committee was designated the lead Committee for Stage 1 scrutiny .
Financial Memorandum
As with all Bills, the Finance and Constitution Committee invites written evidence on the estimated financial implications of the Bill as set out in its accompanying Financial Memorandum (FM).
The Financial Memorandum (FM) published alongside the Bill sets out the estimated costs of introducing the legislation and the additional receipts that are expected to be generated as a result of the changes proposed.
