On 26 October 2016, the Committee considered the petition. The Committee agreed to seek further information from the Minister for Transport and the Islands, on the indicative time scale for the design, development and delivery of the proposed project.

At the meeting on 26 April 2017, the Committee agreed to close the petition. The Committee will continue to question the Minister on the Laurencekirk junction when he is before the Committee giving an update.

PE1598: Protecting wild salmonids from sea lice from Scottish salmon farms

On 29 September 2016 the Public Petitions Committee referred petition PE1598 to the Rural Economy and Connectivity Committee.

On 26 October 2016, the Committee considered the petition. The Committee agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy and Connectivity, seeking further information on the issues raised in the petition.

The Committee received an additional response on 7 December 2016 from the Cabinet Secretary regarding Annex A which is referred to in the letter sent on the 24 November 2016:

On 14 December 2016, the Committee considered the petition. The Committee agreed to write to the Cabinet Secretary for Rural Economy and Connectivity, seeking further information on the issues raised in the petition and to arrange a visit to a salmon farm.

The Committee received correspondence relating to its consideration of the petition on 19 April 2017 from the petitioner:

The Committee considered the petition on 21 June 2017 and agreed that in early 2018 they will conduct an inquiry into aquaculture in Scotland, which would seek to include consideration of the issues raised in the petition.

The Committee conducted an inquiry on salmon farming in Scotland and published a report on the inquiry in November 2018.

At its meeting on 12 December, the Committee closed the petition.

PE1616: Parking Legislation

Lodged on 5 October 2016

On the 8 November 2018, the Public Petitions Committee referred petition PE1616 to the Rural Economy and Connectivity Committee.

At its meeting on 28 November 2018, the Committee considered PE1616 and agreed to take it into account when considering the Stage 1 Report for the Transport (Scotland) Bill as the same issue has been raised in evdience given on the Bill.

The Committee considered the petition at its meeting on 30 October and agreed to close the petition as the objective in the petition had now been achieved and is now law following the passage of the Transport (Scotland)Bill.
