On the 27 June 2019, the Public Petitions Committee referred petition PE1703 to the Rural Economy and Connectivity.
At its meeting on 4 September 2019, the Committee considered PE1703 and agreed to consider the issues raised in the petition as part of the Committee's ongoing scrutiny of the R100 programme.

The Committee received an update on digital connectivity issues from the Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands at its meeting on 30 October, where the petition was raised during the evidence session.

PE1715: Closed-Containment for Salmon Farms in Scotland
On the 7 November 2019, the Public Petitions Committee referred petition PE1715 to the Rural Economy and Connectivity.
The Committee considered the petition at it's meeting on 27 November 2019. Prior to the meeting, the Committee received the following letter from the petitioner:
During the meeting, the Committee agreed to write to the Scottish Aquaculture Innovation Centre to seek further information on how they are supporting innovation in this field and agreed to write to the Scottish Salmon Producers' Organisation asking it to provide details of the research on closed containment that is being undertaken by the industry. The Committee will also consider the petition, together with the information sought, at a future meeting.

The Committee agreed to consider the petition as part of its scrutiny of the outcomes from its inquiry into salmon farming in Scotland.

On the 5 March 2020, the Public Petitions Committee referred petition PE1733 the Rural Economy and Connectivity.
At its meeting on 2 September 2020, the Committee considered PE1733 food and agreed to keep the petition open and to consider the issues raised as part of future scrutiny of food policy.
