On 23 April the Scottish Fiscal Commission wrote to the Committee with an update on the Scottish Government's budgetary position.


Scottish Enterprise funding for 2020/21

During the meeting 10 March, questions arose relating to whether Scottish Enterprise would cease all funding grants for the remainder of this financial year and start a review of costs to identify savings for the year ahead. The Committee wrote to Scottish Enterprise regarding these concerns.

Coronavirus (Scotland) Bill

The Cabinet Secretary for Constitution, Europe and External Affairs wrote the Committee regarding the introduction of the Coronavirus (Scotland) Bill.

Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) Contingency Planning – COVID-19

The Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills wrote to the Committee to provide information about contingency measures being implemented by Accountant in Bankruptcy to help those going through and involved in delivering statutory debt solutions during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Witness Diversity at the Scottish Parliament

The Equalities and Human Rights Committee Convener wrote to the Committee regarding witnesses diversity on 9 December 2019, the Convener replied on 6 February 2020.

Economic Action Plan (EAP)

The Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Economy and Fair Work wrote to the Committee to inform it of a refreshed version of the Economic Action Plan (EAP).

Energy Efficient Scotland - Progress Update

Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning, Kevin Stewart and Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands, Paul Wheelhouse to update the Committee on the progress to address emissions from buildings.

On 3 December the Committee wrote to the Minister for Parliamentary Business and Veterans seeking an update on the Scottish Government's position.

Fair Start Scotland 

On 6 November, the Minister for Business, Fair Work and Skills wrote to update the Committee that the Scottish Government had published the Fair Start Scotland Annual Report and Evaluation Report.

European Structural Funds in Scotland post EU Exit

On 5 November, the Minister for Trade, Investment and Innovation, Ivan McKee wrote to the Committee to inform it of the Scottish Government's European Structural Funds in Scotland post EU Exit.

Renewable Heat Target

On 28 October, the Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands wrote to the Committee to inform it of the Scottish Government's progress towards meeting its renewable heat target. 

Local Energy Policy Statement

On 8 October, the Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands wrote to the Committee to inform it that the Scottish Government will launch its public consultation on the draft Local Energy Policy Statement.


On 4 July, the Convener wrote to the Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Economy and Fair Work regarding draft bills within the Committee's remit, the Minister for Parliamentary Business and Veterans responded on 26 July.

On 29 May the Keeper of the Registers of Scotland, Jennifer Henderson, wrote to the Committee to inform it of the launch of a refreshed offering of ScotLIS for members of the public.

On 17 May the Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning wrote to the Committee to inform it of the publication of the report - New Housing and Future Construction Skills – Adapting and Modernising for Growth.

On 1 May the Minister for Trade, Investment and Innovation wrote to the Committee to announce that “A Trading Nation – a plan for growing Scotland’s exports” would be announced at the National Economic Forum by the First Minister.

On 17 April the Cabinet Secretary for Finance, Economy and Fair Work wrote to the Committee with an update on the progress of discussions on those common frameworks that fall within his portfolio. 

On 26 March 2019 the Committee received a joint letter from Minister for Energy, Connectivity and the Islands and the Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning regarding Energy Efficient Scotland Consultation: accelerating the target and The Future of Low Carbon Heat in Off Gas Buildings.

On 25 March 2019, the Convener of the Finance and Constitution Committee wrote to the Committee regarding the Scottish Parliament’s scrutiny role in relation to the new powers arising from the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

On 19 March 2019, the Minister for Trade, Investment and Innovation wrote to the Committee to inform it of the Conformity Assessment (Mutual Recognition Agreements) Regulations 2019.
