ANNOUNCEMENT

Private Bills – revised determinations etc.

The Presiding Officer has made two revised determinations on aspects of Private Bill procedure, under Chapter 9A of standing orders. The full text of the new determinations is available from the following links to the relevant Annexes of the Guidance on Private Bills:

These new determinations take effect today (7 March 2013). In relation to any Private Bill introduced from today, the requirement (under Rule 9A.2.3(d)(iv)) to set out in the Promoter’s Statement details of the advertisement of the promoter’s intention to introduce the Bill is a requirement to comply with the version of the determination that was in effect at the time the advertising in question was done.

Annex F of the Guidance (model notification letter) has also been updated, including to reflect the terms of the revised determinations.

In connection with the first of these new determinations, a new page has been created on the Parliament’s website for promoters’ advertisements. This new “Proposed Private Bills” page is available here: http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/parliamentarybusiness/Bills/60244.aspx.
