 A Bill for an Act of the Scottish Parliament to amend the Census Act 1920 to enable particulars about gender identity and sexual orientation to be gathered voluntarily.

Current Status of the Bill

This Scottish Government Bill was introduced by the Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, Fiona Hyslop MSP, on 2 October 2018.  The Bill passed Stage 3 on 12 June 2019. Received Royal Assent on 18th July 2019.
