That the Parliament congratulates Caithness General Hospital on it being given the Alliance of Water Stewardship Standard for reducing the amount of pollution from waste medicines; understands that it is the first hospital in the world to undertake this type of project, which is a collaboration between NHS Highland, the Environmental Research Institute, Glasgow Caledonian University, Scottish Water and the University of the Highlands and Islands; notes that the project looks to assess the impact of waste medicines on wildlife and the environment, with the aims of investigating ways to capture and remove pollutants from the water supply and developing advice for clinicians regarding how they can prescribe medicines that are more environmentally friendly; believes that this work is essential to further develop the knowledge of the country's water courses, and wishes the project every success.
