Gillian Docherty, CEO of The Data Lab, Appointed an OBE

That the Parliament congratulates Gillian Docherty, CEO of The Data Lab, on being appointed an OBE in The Queen’s Birthday Honours List for her services to information technology and business; notes that she has served in the technology sector for more than 25 years, and as CEO of the Scottish innovation centre, The Data Lab, since 2015; believes that, under her leadership, The Data Lab has gone from strength to strength, providing valuable support to business, supporting a growing MSc programme for over 150 students and enabling Scotland’s business community to maximise value from data; notes that 2019’s DataFest was the organisation’s biggest and most successful yet and continues to draw international talent and leaders to Scotland; further notes that she has been listed as one of DataIQ’s top 100 influencers; considers that Gillian shows leadership across the technology sector through her board roles, which include Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and the Scottish Government’s Data Delivery Group, and wishes her continued success as a role model and leader in Scotland’s burgeoning tech sector.
