UK Offshore Wind Deal

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 07 March 2019
  • Motion reference: S5M-16223

That the Parliament commends the UK Government, the renewable energy sector and supply chain companies for agreeing the Offshore Wind Sector Deal; notes that the deal pledges that, by 2030, the UK will generate a third of its electricity from offshore wind, creating 27,000 jobs and £40 billion of investment across the UK; considers that Scotland’s offshore wind potential means that it can play an integral role in achieving the deal’s ambitions, creating thousands of jobs and billions of pounds of investment, and believes that Scotland’s offshore wind sector will form an important part of Scotland’s energy mix and economy in 2030 and beyond.
