  • Submitted by: Sandra White, Glasgow Kelvin, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 12 February 2019
  • Motion reference: S5M-15835

That the Parliament congratulates the University of Strathclyde Students' Association on its successful agreement with the university to abolish graduation charges for students; understands that students in Scotland could be charged as much as £225 in order to fully graduate; is concerned that graduation fees pose a significant financial barrier to students’ ability to graduate; notes NUS Scotland’s campaign, Free to Graduate, which calls for Scotland’s colleges and universities to abolish graduation charges; thanks Strathclyde Students' Association for their collaborative partnership with NUS Scotland and Strathclyde University to abolish graduation fees, and encourages all institutions across Scotland to engage with NUS Scotland to ensure that every student in Scotland is "free to graduate".
