SIX TIMES OPEN Campaign

  • Submitted by: Miles Briggs, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 03 February 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-03849

That the Parliament commends Jonathan and David Stretton-Downes, who are 28-year-old fraternal twins, on their campaign, SIX TIMES OPEN, which aims to raise £100,000 for the British Heart Foundation (BHF); understands that that Jonathan will undergo his sixth open-heart operation in 2017 and that the twins wanted to turn this experience into something positive to raise money for the charity; is aware that the 12-month campaign will intimately follow Jonathan and David as they prepare mentally and physically for this procedure and will involve numerous events, activities and corporate partnerships; notes that Jonathan addressed the BHF’s Parliamentary reception 1 February 2017 at which he spoke passionately about his experiences, motivation and support for the BHF; encourages people and businesses across Scotland to support the campaign, details of which can be found at sixtimesopen.com; sends its best wishes to Jonathan ahead of his surgery, and congratulates the twins on what it considers an inspirational fundraising campaign and the BHF on the excellent work that it carries out in Scotland and across the UK.
