The Climate Change (Scotland) Bill was introduced to the Parliament on 4 December 2008. The Bill contains provisions that aim to improve waste management and recycling in order to help move Scotland towards a zero waste society. Reducing the amount of waste we produce and reusing or recycling that which we do produce will contribute to lowering Scotland’s greenhouse gas emissions and thus contribute to mitigating climate change. This briefing considers the waste proposals in the Bill.
