Question
To ask the Scottish Government what it estimates the total savings for patients in Scotland, compared with those in England, will be in 2021-22 as a result of free prescriptions, which are not age-exempt from charging in England, for medications to treat (a) asthma, (b) chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and (c) cardiovascular disease.
Answer
It is not possible to provide an answer to the question as presented. The numbers of items dispensed in Scotland for BNF chapters 2 - cardiovascular system and 3 - respiratory system for 2019-20 will take in a range of drugs not related to the conditions in question, similarly these may not take in all relevant medicines for these conditions.
