Question

To ask the Scottish Government how much funding has been provided in the Stirling Council area each year from the (a) Attainment Challenge and (b) Pupil Equity Fund, also broken down by how many schools received support. 


Answer

The Scottish Government has provided funding in the Stirling Council area through three of the workstreams in the Scottish Attainment Challenge. They are the Schools Programme, the Care Experienced Children and Young People Fund and Pupil Equity Funding.

In 2015-16, one school was supported through the Schools Programme. They were allocated £45,600 and spent £39,251.

In 2016-17, two schools were supported through the Schools Programme. They were allocated a combined total of £166,581 and spent £118,916.

In 2017-18, two schools were supported through the Schools Programme. They were allocated a combined total of £180,268 and spent £174,025. A total of 47 schools were supported through Pupil Equity Funding, which was introduced in 2017/18. They were allocated £1,424,400 and spent £862,949 with £561,451 carried over.

In 2018-19, two schools were supported through the Schools Programme. They were allocated a combined total of £181,816 and spent £176,639. A total of 47 schools were supported through Pupil Equity Funding. They were allocated £1,483,440 and spent £1,696,356.26 with £348,535 carried over. Stirling Council was allocated £142,400 and spent £93,392 through the Care Experienced Children and Young People Fund, which was introduced in 2018/19.

In 2019-20, two schools were supported through the Schools Programme. They were allocated a combined total of £181,816 and spent £173,535.50. Through Pupil Equity Funding a total of £1,504,800 was allocated. Spend details and the number of schools supported is not yet available. Stirling Council was allocated £201,600 and spent £201,600 through the Care Experienced Children and Young People Fund.

In 2020-21, two schools are being supported through the Schools Programme. They were allocated a combined total of £181,803. Through Pupil Equity Funding a total of £1,417,866 was allocated to 47 schools. Stirling Council was allocated £218,400 through the Care Experienced Children and Young People Fund. Spend detail is not yet available.

Overall, a total of £7,330,390 has been allocated to Stirling Council and schools in Stirling with 47 schools supported by this funding. The following table illustrates year by year allocations and spending.
